The Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) has appealed to the three MPs of the state to table the prevailing clash in Manipur in the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament for an end to the unrest.

Speaking to the media at the TAKDAL office in Wangjing, TAKDAL president YBhagyachandra said that it has been 85 days since the clash broke out on May 3 claiming about 150 lives and leaving over 50,000 people displaced. He condemned the central and state governments for not bringing a solution to the clash.

He added that Manipur is in a state of chaos and has become a lawless land. The clash could have been ended a long time ago but the paramilitary forces deployed in the state have been showing partiality on the two warring communities, he alleged and criticised the security forces for not being able to control the Kuki militants under SoO.

He expressed the want for unification among the different communities residing in the state to save the territorial integrity of Manipur as the Meitei community is a peace-loving community. So far, the Meiteis have not waged war against anyone and they are only trying to defend the community and the territorial integrity, he added.

He urged the government for a political dialogue to flush out the Kuki militants from the Kuki dominated areas like Churachandpur, Moreh, Serou, Sugunu, Napat, Tangjeng and Sekmai and let the indigenous people return to their homelands. He also appealed to the authorities concerned to help the displaced people in returning to their homes instead of constructing prefabricated homes.

Bhagyachandra also drew the attention of the remaining 50 MLAs to call an emergency assembly session to discuss the prevailing clash and take a firm stand in bringing back peace and normalcy in the state. He also warned of intense fights and protest if the government failed to take a firm stand by the end of this month.

He said that Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan should table the issue of Myanmarese influx in the state in the last few days. He also appealed to the relevant authorities for a border shield in the Myanmar border.

He also mentioned the fresh violence in Moreh on Wednesday with the Kuki militants and state forces and demanded for additional state forces in the violence-hit areas.

TAKDAL appealed to the people of the state to help in reviving peace in the state.
