Without public participation and support, the government alone cannot bring development in a society, Manipur Power Minister Th Biswajit said and stressed the need for synchronisation between the public and the government for a speedy development and a progressive society.
He was speaking during the 57th foundation day celebration of Kongba Students' Club (KSC) cum 5th Meritorious Award cum Felicitation of Awardees Ceremony held at Kongba Bazar in Imphal East.
Stating that development has to be started from the individual level with a mindset of reform, performance and transformation, Biswajit said, "If the locals don't act, there will be no development."
Highlighting the role of local clubs in shaping the society, he said that the local clubs should curve a way out for those people who are living jobless by letting them get involved in sports, cultural and social activities.
Talking about the education system, Biswajit pointed out that many youths are lagging in moral education though the formal education is going excellent.
He stressed that punctuality and discipline should be the main quality of a student. Parents and guardians should also strictly monitor the activities of their children, he added.
Concerning the fund drives taken up by local clubs for organising any events, the minister called on the clubs to stop trends and instead focus on keeping a resource mobilisation for their respective clubs.
In this regard, the minister suggested renting of shops and plots in the locality or club's owned land.
The function was also attended by Padma Shri Awardee and president of KSC K Ibomcha and founder member of KSC Khadangbam Jugeshwar among others.
