One sub inspector D Lalpi Vaiphei of Imphal West district and rifleman Akoijam Ibomcha of C/Coy 7MR have been suspended on charges of corruption and negligence on duty.
An order signed by superintendent of police, Imphal West Ksh Shivakanta Singh on Thursday mentioned that departmental proceedings are being contemplated against SI D Lalpi Vaiphei of Imphal West district for his grave misconduct and dereliction of duty.
It stated that under Rule 66 of Assam Police Manual Part-II, Lalpi is under suspension with immediate effect.
It stated that during the period of suspension, his headquarter will be at Reserve Lines, Imphal West district and he will not leave his headquarter without prior permission from the district SP. He will get subsistence allowance as admissible under rules during the period under which he is placed under suspension, it added.
Besides, in a separate order signed and issued by commandant, 7th Battalion Manipur Rifles, Khabeisoi on Friday mentioned that a departmental enquiry is contemplated against rifleman number 072006094, Akoijam Ibomcha of C/Coy 7MR presently posted/ attached with Police Headquarters, reception section, Imphal for his serious misconduct and dereliction of duty.
Under Rules 66 of Assam Police Manual Part-III Ibomcha is under suspension with immediate effect.
The order further mentioned that during the period of suspension, Ibomcha shall remained at Battalion headquarter, Khabersoi and he will not leave without prior permission from the commandant of 7th Manipur Rifles.
He will get subsistence allowances only as admissible under rules during the period of his suspension until further order.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh on his Facebook page posted the photograph of the two suspension orders with a caption, ‘Two police personnel were suspended on corruption charges and negligence on duty. One is related to the arrest of more than 60 duplicate sim cards, and one is related to taking bribes in police transfers.’
Earlier during the 131st Manipur Police Raising Day celebration, Biren expressed earlier that the government will not tolerate any government employees, including police personnel who are involved in any sort of corruption and will take necessary action against them.
