Students of Sangaiyumpham Higher Secondary School of Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal district on Thursday observed a sit-in-protest in front the school gate, demanding the authority to fill the vacancy of principal and teaching staff.
Speaking on the occasion, a student said that the authorities concerned had been informed regarding the issue of lack of teachers and principal in the school in October.
Condemning the authorities for paying deaf ears to the queries of the students, they lamented that the students cannot apply for scholarships due to the absence of the necessary authorities.
The students urged the authorities to fill the vacancy of principal and the teaching staff promptly.
Placards that read, ‘Fill the vacancy of the Principal’s post’, ‘Fill the vacancy of teachers’ posts’, ‘Let us have a proper education’ etc. were displayed in the sit-in-protest.
