Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday expressed the dire need for inculcating the idea of spiritualism among youth of the state to prevent them from instability, social unrest and chaos in the state.

Addressing the ‘Interfaith Dialogue: The need of the global society today’ at Classic Grande, Biren said that spiritualism and religiosity are the key to wellbeing. However, the youths of today have been diverted from these areas that has resulted to denigrate discipline and morality.

The CM maintained that a strong belief in spiritualism can bring peace and harmony irrespective of caste, creed and communities. As such, organising the interfaith conference in the state to encounter anti-social issues is highly appreciable, Biren said.

While hailing TS Damodar as an exceptional human, he said that the contribution made by TS Damodar in spreading the essence of spiritualism to promote peace, harmony and humanism shouldn't be forgotten by future generations. It would be really helpful in strengthening any kind of relationship following his thought-provoking ideology and belief, the CM added.

CM Biren said that the government alone cannot bring peace and stability without support from society. He appealed to all people to inculcate the idea of unity and integrity through spiritualism and make Manipur one of the best states in the country.

He also assured to complete the ongoing construction taken at ISKON soon and also announced to develop Loktak Lake as one of the freshwater lakes in SouthEast Asia as the centre has approved a sanction of around Rs 1,400 crore from World Bank.

President of the programme, Ekta Das, who is also chairman of ISKON Manipur, said that TS Damodara was born in 1937 at Toubul under Bishnupur district. Despite facing many challenges during his childhood period, he became one of the key figures in spreading the message of science, religion and spirituality, Das said.

Stating that God is one, Das said that the role of leaders of every religion is important to unite all communities and live harmoniously and peacefully. He also appreciated all the religious leaders for accepting their invite.

The programme, organised by ISKON, was conducted in connection with the birth anniversary celebration of 84th TS Damodara. It was also attended by chairman and managing director, BABINA Group Th Dhabali as guest of honour.
