Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Programme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee, Thoubal organised an awareness programme on ‘Prevention of Substance and Alcohol Abuse’ on Thursday at DC office complex, Thoubal.
A street play entitled ‘Nupi Thiba Ekaijei’ was also shown to the committee members, volunteers and official staff of Mini Secretariat.
The programme witnessed AC to DC, Thoubal, Polem Lenin; DFWO of Thoubal, Dr Ksh Memcha; SDOBDO of Thoubal, M Ingocha Singh; District Social Welfare officer of Thoubal and member secretary of Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee of Thoubal, Arambam Kameshwar; DACYP of NYK, Thoubal, K Lokendro and RDs, Wangjing, Kh Robindro.
Arambam Kameshwar briefed about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign and related awareness programmes held so far. He urged the members present in the programme to tie up with Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee in order to include the awareness programme in all the functions and programmes of their concerned offices. He further mentioned that with the help of the street play, the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign can be easily reached to all the sections of the society.
One of the street play artists read out a brief account on prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism and further stated that health is wealth but a drug free life and honesty is greater wealth.
The ZEO office, Thoubal expressed its willingness to showcase the street play in all the schools and institutions in Thoubal district when a new session of schools commences.
