Stolen vehicles recovered; two arrested in Thoubal

A team of Thoubal commando recovered stolen vehicles and arrested two individuals in the theft case.

Two people have been arrested and stolen vehicles recovered from them by a team of Thoubal commando, sources said on Monday.

According to police sources, Thoubal district police received a ti-poff on Sunday around 6.30 am that one Md Imtiyas@ Apik son of Md Helim of Lilong Makha Leikai and other gang members have stolen vehicles which were kept concealed at his house at Lilong Makha Leikai.

As per the information, a team of Thoubal commando under the instruction of O Wangkhomba, Additional SP( ops) and under the command of Inspector.Nataranjan, OC, Thoubal Commando and under the overall supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, SP Thoubal rushed to Lilong Makha Leikai.

The sources informed that a search operation was conducted at the house of Md Imtihas and some  vehicles believed to be stolen  were recovered by the Commando  teams from his house.

The recovered vehicles included one Honda Dio black in colour, one TVS NTORQ black in colour, two TVS NTORQ black and red in colour, one Maruti Alto Lxi silky silver in colour and another Maruti Alto Lxi silky silver in colour bearing registraton number MN01X 2622, the sources added.

Further, a massive search was conducted on Sunday itself  to arrest Md.Imtiyas@ Apik and his gang members during which information was received at 6:30 pm that the gang members were planning to steal some vehicles from MBC Church area in Imphal West on Christmas Day.

The sources said the team rushed to the area and the team arrested two individuals who were part of the gang at 7.30 pm by observing necessary formalities.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Yumkhaibam Islao Rahaman (23), son of Md Islamuddin of Lilong Dam Mamang and Khullakpam Sahid Ali @Mamei @Ashif (20), son of Md Rashid Ali of Lilong Dam Makha.

The arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to Lilong PS and a case has been registered for necessary legal action, the sources stated, adding that massive efforts were still on to arrest the other gang members, who were also registered in the case.
