The Special Judge (POCSO), Imphal West, on Monday remanded a 25-year-old man into five days of police custody till June 14, in connection with a sexual assault case on a minor.
The man is identified as Md Doulat, son of Md Khan of Bishnupur Muslim Leikai, presently at Uripok Huidrom Leikai, Imphal West. The accused is the stepfather of a minor victim; he was arrested on June 9, 2024.
According to police record, a complaint was filed by the superintendent of a children's home that a child of 16 years old was sexually assaulted by her stepfather at a rented house located at Uripok Yambem Leikai.
The child is depressed because of several previous traumas and was reluctant to share information and stories. However, upon building trust for almost 2 years, she shared the story.
The present address of the victim’s mother is unknown while the victim has been staying in the children's home since 2022.
The Police prayed for five days of police custody in order to be able to dig out more information.
The court, after hearing prayer, remanded the man into police custody.
