Sit-in protest held against donation

Shops of Yairipok New Market, Tampha Keithel and pharmacies remain closed and the market bore a deserted look during the protest.

Shopkeepers of Yairipok Keithel on Thursday staged a sit-in protest condemning the collection of huge amounts of donation money from the shops by different organisations while appealing to stop as it has caused huge inconvenience to the shopkeepers.

Shops of Yairipok New Market, Tampha Keithel and pharmacies remain closed and the market bore a deserted look during the protest organised by All Yairipok Dukandar Association on Thursday at Yairipok Keithel Traffic island. Banks also remained closed and public transports were also not seen except for some private vehicles.

All Yairipok Dukandar Association president Lairikyengbam Shyamchoron said that the shopkeepers and women vendors of Yairipok Keithel have been extending financial aid and every help possible for the victims of the ongoing violence which erupted in the state on May 3, 2023.

He appealed to those concerned to have a meeting with the shopkeepers and come to an agreement as the shopkeepers are helpless.
