Shiv Sena Balasaheb Banchi Manipur Pradesh, led by its state president M Tombi, on Thursday visited the injured who were admitted at Raj Medicity following the tragic road mishap at Longsai Part- 3 (Tubung), Noney district.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, Tombi told the party deeply condoles the demise of the seven students, a teacher and a warden in the tragic incident where more than 30 were injured.
He said the party appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Rs 2 lakh for each deceased family as ex-gratia and Chief Minister N Biren Singh for providing Rs 5 lakh each to the deceased families and monetary assistance for the injured.
Due to road construction along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) many of the vehicles, including heavy goods trucks are also ferrying along Tongjei Maril. With the increase in traffic the road condition of Tongjei Maril is also getting worse in some parts along the road, he added.
Reminding the party’s long-term demand to upgrade Tongjei Maril into 4 lane national highway, Tombi urged the state and central government to upgrade the road into 4 lane and its infrastructure as similar to that of NH-37 in order to reduce road mishap.
