On November 7, 2023 one Leichonbam ongbi Abemcha, 39, wife of L Tondon succumbed to a bullet injury after an incident which took place at Kangchup Kharam. The JAC formed in connection with the incident had submitted a memorandum demanding to deploy more security forces in the area.

However, the chief minister failed to fulfil his commitment and due to lack of security forces in the area, Kuki militants killed Manoranjan on January 18 by taking advantage, he added.

The state government has been remaining as a silent spectator although Kuki militants continue killing of villagers, he said.
