Sericulture training programme held in Chandel

The 2nd batch of the training programme covered 25 beneficiaries, who are all women of Chandel district and below 35 years of age.

The 2nd batch of five-day training programme on Entrepreneurship Development in Sericulture was inaugurated by scientist D and RSRS, Mantripukhri head Y Debaraj in an inaugural function at District Sericulture Office in Chandel on Monday.

A release issued by District Sericulture Office, Chandel stated that the training programme was conducted as a part of the project ‘Seri-Entrepreneurship Development in Aspirational Districts of North-Eastern India’ with funding from the department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science And Technology, New Delhi, government of India.

The inaugural function of the training programme was organised by the Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI), Berhampore, Central Silk Board Ministry of Textile, government of India, it added.

The programme was attended by scientist D of RSRS Mantripukhri L Somen as chief guest, CSR&TI Berhampore scientist C Parameswaranaik J as president and district sericulture officer Amang Mangte as guest of honour, it mentioned.

It stated that the 2nd batch of the training programme covered 25 beneficiaries, who are all women of Chandel district and below 35 years of age. It can be mentioned that the 1st batch of the training programme was held from September 19 and concluded on September 23, it added.
