A sepoy of 246-Field Regiment, 99 APO at Leimakhong under Leimakhong Police Station allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service INSAS Rifle at around 6.25 am on Wednesday.
According to police, deceased Sepoy (No.21020005L) Gunner Lukesh, 21, son of Mukesh of Mawta, District, Ratlam Madhya Pradesh was posted for duty at a sentry post.
He allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself on his throat with one bullet, using his service INSAS Rifle.
As per police, late Gunner Lukesh's mobile was found smashed on the ground. As the deceased was single, it is suspected that he may have thrown the phone before killing himself, probably due to a relationship that had gone sour.
A case has been registered by Leimakhong Police Station in connection with the death. After conducting a post mortem at RIMS, the body has been taken to his home state.
