Sensitisation programme on climate held

HoD of Community Medicine, RIMS Dr Brogen Akoijam stressed the need of young doctors to know all the possible health impacts of climate changes.

A one-day sensitisation programme on ‘Climate Change and its impact on Health’ under the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) for PG students, interns and Community Medicine department of RIMS was held at the Banting Hall of RIMS in Imphal West on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, HoD of Community Medicine, RIMS Dr Brogen Akoijam said everyone is responsible for climate change in one aspect or another; therefore, it is also the responsibility of all in fighting the issue.  

He stressed the need of young doctors to know all the possible health impacts of climate changes. Tuesday's sensitisation programme is a great initiative as climate change has become a great concern in the health of an individual.

The programme which was inaugurated by RIMS director Dr H Priyosakhi also witnessed the presence of state nodal officer of NPCCHH Dr Y Neveda; DM University assistant professor Sarita and assistant professor of Community Medicine RIMS Dr Jalias Laishram among others.
