Seminar in Churachandpur on Netaji’s INA in WW II

The national seminar was attended by more than 150 scholars, academicians and students.

A one-day national seminar on ‘Netaji’s INA & the Northeast during World War II’ was organised on Saturday by the Department of History, Lamka Government College, New Lamka, Churachandpur which at the Conference Hall of the Lamka College.

The national seminar was attended by more than 150 scholars, academicians and students. It was sponsored by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi. Professor Lal Dena, Professor S Irene, Professor Jangkhomang Guite and Sonthang Haokip attended the event as resource persons.  

The seminar, divided into two Academic Sessions, began with the keynote address by Sonthang Haokip where he spoke on the contribution of Netaji’s INA. Quoting the statement, ‘History is written by the victors, the professor stated that though the contribution of Nataji’s INA was huge but it was kept in abeyance and in dormant state for the past many decades which scholars, academicians need to explore.

During the programme, Professor Lal Dena presented a paper on ‘INA movement in Tuithaphai (Khuga Valley), 1944: base on eye witness account & Oral Source’, Professor S Irene on ‘INA Japanese Relation, Md Rafijuddin Shah on ‘Captain Naki Ahmed Chaudhary: Unsung INA veterans’, Professor Jangkhomang Guite on ‘Tribal freedom fighters in INA movement: Manipur Case’ while Sonthang Haokip presented a paper on ‘How important was Imphal to Nataji during WW II’.
