The security forces in Manipur has been conducting series of welfare activities in different parts of the state, including awareness programme on drug abuse.
A lecture on anti-drug abuse under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)’ was organised by Somsai Battalion under the aegis of headquarter 10 sect Assam Rifles at Tusom Christian Village of Ukhrul district on Saturday.
As a part of the event, the organisers interacted with the youth and the village authorities during which the dangerous effects of drug abuse were discussed, stated an AR release.
At Komlakhong in Bishnupur district, the Assam Rifles held ‘Plastic Se Raksha, Swachhta Hi Suraksha Plogging Drive’ under the Swachhata Pakhwada. It was organised by the Loktak Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) on Saturday.
The drive was organised to inculcate the habit of walking and running in people in quest for better health and fitness as well as to share the awareness of the adverse effects of plastics on environment and to people, a release by IGAR (South) stated.
During the event, all ranks of Company Operating Base, Komlakhong of the battalion along with the locals conducted the plog run and cleaned the surroundings of Komlakhong, it added.
The Somsai Battalion Assam Rifles at Tolloi village of Ukhrul District, Manipur on Saturday conducted a tree plantation drive.
A total of 100 saplings have been planted by the Somsai Battalion AR personnel along with the locals of Tolloi village to promote awareness about the importance of conserving forest.
The local populace commended Assam Rifles for undertaking such initiatives in the village, it added.
