Security forces recover arms and ammunition

As per a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, security forces recovered one .22 Rifle with one Magazine, one 9mm Pistol with one Magazine, one 7.65mm Pistol with one Magazine, one Improvised Mortar, two Improvised Projectile Launchers, among others.

Security forces on Monday recovered several arms and ammunition during search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur.

As per a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, security forces recovered one .22 Rifle with one Magazine, one 9mm Pistol with one Magazine, one 7.65mm Pistol with one Magazine, one Improvised Mortar, two Improvised Projectile Launchers, two Sten Grenades, one Telescopic Sight, two Baofeng Radio Sets, three 40mm UBGL Fired Shells and twenty-one Ammunition from Kharam Vaiphei in Kangpokpi district.

The police said that three remote control IEDs with command mechanism, 25 metres cordtex, two live round ammunition, three fired cases and three lithium cells were also recovered by security forces from the general area of Monghlam in Imphal East district on Saturday.

The police also said that the situation in the state was under control and that movement of 246 and 259 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

A total of 123 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and police detained 61 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, the police mentioned.

The police then appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
