Security beefed up ahead of VVIP visit to Manipur

A house-to-house search operation and verification of bailed outs was conducted at Langol Game Village Zone I and II and Housing complex area.

Security has been beefed up in view of the proposed visit of VVIP in Manipur in the next few days, the district police commando, Imphal West conducted cordon and search operation at different areas of Imphal city on Tuesday.

In the first incident, the district police commando team along with Lamphel police station led by deputy superintendent of police, commando, Y Kishorchand under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops) conducted house-to-house search operation and verification of bailed outs at Langol Game Village Zone I and II and Housing complex area from 6 am to 7.50 am.

During the operation, about 100 quarters were searched and over 150 individuals, including four bailed out were verified. However, there was no report of any arrest.

In separate incident, another team of the district police commando personnel led by officer-in-charge, commando, Imphal West conducted search operation at Sanmati area covering Aluminium gali, Kasturi and Pratap crossing area covering Masajid area, Kakhulong, Mahaveer pharmacy, Polo ground and Ibohal cycle area from 2.40 pm to 4 pm.

Over 380 individuals were detained and verified but no arrest was made.
