As a part of precautionary measures taken with the upcoming Sangai Festival, 2022, Imphal West district commando conducted house to house search and verification at Changangei Ucheckon area on Sunday.
The operation was conducted from 6.35 am to 7.50 am and during the operation around 78 houses, including rented houses were searched and 115 individuals and two bailouts of different underground outfits were verified.
However, no individuals were picked up for further verification.
Sangai festival 2022 will start from November 21 and continue till the end of the month at various places. Unlike the previous Sangai Festival celebrations, the main venue of the Sangai Festival, 2022 will be at Sangai Ethnic Park located at Moirang Khunou, Bishnupur district.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh had informed earlier that the state government has invited President Droupadi Murmu to attend the Sangai Festival.
He said that the site Sangai Festival main venue is being shifted to Moirang Khunou as the site is close to the Keibul Lamjao National Park which is the largest floating park in the world having the natural habitat of Sangai deer.
The state government is putting every effort into the construction of Sangai Ethinc Park as it is the main venue of Sangai Festival, 2022.
It is also said that many foreign delegates are also invited including writers.
Due to the COVID pandemic, Sangai Festival was suspended for two consecutive years.
During the previous Sangai Festival indigenous cultural programmes, traditional huts of various 34 ethnic communities of Manipur, Yubi Lakpi competition, Arambai were demonstrated. Men’s International Polo Tournament was also conducted and many others including events for adventure lovers.
