Sawmill burnt down in Pallel, arms recovered

The sawmill was situated along Pallel Aimol road.

In the early hours of Friday, a sawmill belonging to Mutum Rabichandra Singh, a 56-year-old resident of Pallel Bamon Leikai, was burned down in a suspected arson attack. The sawmill was situated along Pallel Aimol road.

Following the incident, a search operation was conducted in the surrounding areas of Pallel Aimol IVR by combined teams from the CDO unit KCG District, Pallel Police Station, Tengnoupal Police Station, and the Border Security Force (BSF) alongside 21 Assam Rifles (AR) in Pallel. The operation led to the recovery of several firearms and other items from M. Tulnom Village, Pallel.

The recovered items include one DBBL gun (bearing serial number 33225-16) from Shikarl Goverdhan Lal & Sons, four SBBL guns from various manufacturers, seven locally made pompi guns, five locally made pompi H.E., 163 gun cartridges, two BP jackets with two local-made BP plates, one patka helmet, four Baofeng handheld radios with batteries and chargers, five mobile smartphones and 1 Nokia keypad mobile phone.

Four combat knee guards, one olive green jacket, one Bajaj Avenger bike (maroon color, registration number MN01A-M7293), one Activa 4G scooter (silver color, registration number MN06S/6180), two black Kenbo bikes, four seals marked with “Thoh Hat Self Help Group, Bongmol Village, Machi Block” and “Leader No.1, No.2, No.3” of the same group, and a cash receipt book from “M. Tuinom Youth Club, Pallel, District Tengnoupal,” were also recovered.

The search operation also resulted in the detention of six individuals from various villages in Tengnoupal district.

They are Shaminial Haokip 38, son of Hemhun Haokip of Zlon Village, Molnol, Tengnoupal District, Letkholal Doungel, 57, son of Leolhun Doungel of Zion Village, Molnol, Tengnoupal District, M Tongkhohou Haokip, 23, son of M Lunpao Haokip of T Tuisomjang village, Tengnoupal district, Manggoulen Haokip, 26, son of Jangkhotinthang Haokip of Bongiang Village, Tengnoupal district, Seimenthang Mate, 20, son of Kheiminen Mate of Leitan Village, Tengnoupal District and Manchong Jangminlal Zou alias Senpu Zou, 43, son of M Thangpao Zou of Tuinom Village, Tengnoupal district were detained and the recovered items were formally seized from the spot.

The detained individuals and the seized items have been handed over to the authorities for further investigation and legal action. The cause of the sawmill fire and the relationship of the detained individuals to the incident are still under investigation.
