Sanitisation drive conducted in Andro assembly constituency

About 300 volunteers of the forum reportedly took part in the awareness programme and mass sanitisation drive by wearing t-shirts imprinted with the words ‘corona warriors’.

A sanitisation drive was carried out by volunteers in collaboration with the Manipur Fire Service personnel on Wednesday in Manipur’s Andro assembly constituency. An awareness programme was also conducted.

The sanitation work was led by chairman, United NGO forum, Yairipok, Keisam Ningthemjao.

About 300 volunteers of the forum reportedly took part in the awareness programme and mass sanitisation drive by wearing t-shirts imprinted with the words ‘corona warriors’.

The sanitisation drive was conducted at Yairipok bazar area, Laimanai, Top Chingtha and other places. Three fire tenders disinfected most of the areas with sodium hypochloride solution.

As a part of the programme, face masks, hand sanitizers and hand gloves were distributed to the public. Additionally, an awareness programme on prevention of COVID-19 infection was also conducted.

Speaking on the occasion, Ningthemjao said, volunteers from different NGOs under the umbrella of the said forum took the initiative to spread awareness. If one follows the guidelines and protocols of world health organization (WHO) and Indian Council of Medical Research, then the virus cannot be transmitted, he said.

Ningthemjao said the ‘corona warriors’ will give assistance to the people of the assembly constituency to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
