Salesians take charge of St Dominic Mission Centre

The official handing over of the Mission Centre was held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lamphoupasna Village on Sunday.

The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), Dimapur Province, have taken over the charge of St. Dominic Mission Centre (SDMC) in Lamphoupasna Village under Chandel district which was under the Archdiocese of Imphal for eight years.

The official handing over of the Mission Centre was held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lamphoupasna Village on Sunday. Most Rev. Dominic Lumon, D.D. Archbishop of Imphal, Manipur handed over the related documents to Rev Fr. Benny James, Provincial Delegate and Economer of Dimapur Province.

Fr. Jose, SDB was appointed as Priest in-charge of the Mission Centre w.e.f. from July, 3, 2022.
Set up in May of 2013, St. Dominic Mission Centre was under the Archdiocese of Imphal with Diocesan priests taking charge of it one after the other; so far four priests had been appointed in-charge till the handing over of the centre to Salesians – they are Fr. George Ginsei Baite, Fr. Bungsong Joseph, Fr. Marius Gangmei and Fr. Joy Kurian.

The Mission Centre covers three villages viz. Lamphoupasna, Beru-Anthi and Lamphou Charu, predominantly consisting of Anal tribe with a Catholic population of about a thousand.
