Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh, locals extend support to victims, volunteers

Members of the Sagolband Peace and Relief Committee along with Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh extended support to the next of kin of volunteers who were killed and those injured in the ongoing attacks carried out by Kuki militants.

A release stated that members of Sagolband Peace and Relief Committee along with Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh visited the residence of the deceased Laithangbam Noren at Nepra Menjor and met the bereaved family along with locality club members. Through the Peace and Relief Committee, the MLA handed over Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased, it informed.

He expressed his deepest respects to late Noren who sacrificed his life for the people of Manipur, stating that the people of Sagolband are proud to have a son of the soil who was martyred for the motherland, it continued. The family of the deceased also met CM N Biren Singh at the official bungalow and was assured of a government job for one of the family members, it mentioned.

It maintained that MLA RK Imo Singh also visited RIMS Hospital to meet Salam Ratan from Sagolband Kuraomakhong who was injured in a Kuki militant attack and handed over a sum of Rs 50,000 to the injured. The MLA thanked RIMS authority for giving free treatment to every injured person who is being treated at the hospital, it added. He assured the public that he will ensure all treatments will be borne by him for all those getting injured from Sagolband, even if the hospital does not provide free treatment.

It stated that the MLA handed over Rs 25,000 to Voluntary Help Unit Committee RIMS and also met with the gunshot survivor Thounaojam Rajkumar from Sugunu Awang Leikai who was found alive after seven days and handed over Rs 10,000.

RK Imo stated that although the people of the state desire peace, there are certain elements which are continuously making efforts to create a violent atmosphere of panic and unrest, and called on the union government to take more proactive measures against these forces immediately, it added.
