Rs 8,36,000 from banks, court pending cases settled in Lok Adalat

Bank defaulters of SBI, UCO and seven pending court cases were taken up and five cases were settled and disposed of from Bench 1, a release stated.

As part of the nationwide national Lok Adalat, Churachandpur district also conducted the Lok Adalat on Saturday.

In a release, DLSA Churachandpur stated that there were two benches during the session. Bench -1 was presided by District and Sessions Judge N Keertichand Singh, Advocate Songzamang Tombing and president BAR association Lalrinchhana Bawitlung as members.

Bank defaulters of SBI, UCO and seven pending court cases were taken up and five cases were settled and disposed of from Bench 1, it stated.

Meanwhile, five bank cases, three pending court cases from Canara Bank, and one civil case of land dispute which was pending for more than 10 years was settled and disposed of from Bench-2. It was presided over by Chief Judicial Magistrate Janggoulen Haokip and Advocate Lhingneikim Haokip with Advocate Lalthomawi as members.

A total amount of Rs 8,36,000 was settled in the said Lok Adalat from the banks and court pending cases, it stated.

The National Lok Adalat organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Churachandpur in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority was held from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, it mentioned.
