RPF/PLA cadre arrested in Imphal East

The arrested person along with the seized articles were handed over to Sagolmang PS for taking up necessary legal action against him.

A joint team of 4th Assam Rifles and Special CDO, unit led by Subedar L, Bebekananda Singh OC-SPL/CDO under the supervision of Th Krishnatombi Singh, Superintendent of Police/Railway & In-charge of Special commando Unit, Khabeisoi, Imphal East arrested an active cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA organisation on Friday.

The team received specific information from the Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi, regarding the presence of some suspected persons of RPF PLA in the general area of Khewa Phurju Leikai Imphal East district at around 8 pm on Friday.

The team rushed to the said area and arrested the cadre at around 8.45pm from Khewa Phurju Leikai near Khewa Phurju Lower Primary School, Imphal East district during frisking and checking. He was coming towards Sagolmang by foot.

On preliminary verification, he identified himself as 35-year-old Lanbilung Kamei@Restafen, son of (L) Gaikhanglin Kamei from Neikalong Thangmeiband Imphal West.

On further verification Lanbilung Kamei said that he is a hard core cadre of the banned organisation RPF/PLA and his rank is S/S captain and is presently holding the post of assistant secretary minority development and affair.

He joined in the year 2006 through one (L)Kanta of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Imphal West District. He got 60-day basic Military training at Feiyang Myanmar in 2007 batch and got army no. 2900 and presently MC no.337.

On further questioning he revealed that, he is presently working under the command of one Shyam @ Shanta of RPF/PLA Colonel and he was being instructed to work for recruiting news cadres for money extortions from the general public, businessmen and government offices of the valley District of Manipur for raising fund, and to purchase arms and ammunitions for the said organisation.

One I-Card written in Burmese language which was issued by RPF/PLA authority and one programme chart of RPF/PLA related to the 44 Foundation day celebrations which was held on September 25, 2022 were found in his possession.

The arrested person along with the seized articles were handed over to Sagolmang PS for taking up necessary legal action against him.
