A three-day long ‘3rd Rongmei Kaikhwang (clan) Conference (Longmei, Ruangmei, TR and Rwangmei) North East India’ concluded at Ramgaizaeng Lakhinagar GP, Cachar district, Assam on Wednesday.
The programme was organised by Rongmei Kaikhwang North East India (RKNEI) under the theme ‘Ignite the clan spirit towards the Common Goal’.
During the inaugural session, a programme dedication of conference hall and flag hoisting was performed by Gaibirei Rongmei Khulakpu Khoupum Valley.
The 3rd Rongmei Kaikhwang Conference Monolith was unveiled by Poubuan Rongmei Working President RKNEI in the presence of delegates from Village wise, State Unit and Central Executives of Rongmei Kaikhwang North East India.
During the conference program, a meeting was conducted as session chairman by Raningong Rongmei.
The house meeting unanimously resolved that the spelling of the clan name should be "RWANGMEI" in the days to come.
The election of new office bearers for RKNEI was also conducted, and the house unanimously resolved to continue all the recent office bearers for the tenure of 2023-2025.
In the election, Poubuan Rongmei was elected as president of the Rongmei Kaikhwang North East India.
As part of the conference, making of holy fire, cultural dance, displaying traditional musical instruments, traditional slogan ho- hoing, presentation of gifts for dignitaries, entertainment, traditional fashion show and other social activities were showcased by several artistes.
Moreover, senior citizens and delegates from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland elaborated the brief history of Rongmei Kaikhwang. More than 1,500 delegates attended the conference.
