The Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) has welcomed the government’s initiative of conducting a statewide eviction drive against illegal land encroachers and dwellers that are popping up magically inside the capital city Imphal and along the highways without any biases.
In a release, RNSOM said that the statewide eviction against illegal encroachers has been quite an effort for the state government for these decades. The fear of politicians and government on this eviction drive against illegal occupants has halted many development projects and beautification of town and cities during the last few decades due to unavailability of space in almost all district headquarters, important towns along highways and Imphal city, the release added.
The organisation also denounced the statement of some sections of organisations that go against the statewide eviction drive on illegal land encroachers on communal grounds.
RNSOM also appealed to the general public to cooperate and support the government’s initiative on eviction against illegal land encroachers for future generation and development.
