Due to mushrooming of social media, the time has come to plan for systematic operation, DIPR Minister Sapam Ranjan said. There is a need for authentic news and social media is yet to be recognised as authentic news. Legally the steps should be taken ahead for operating systematically, the minister added.

Social media platforms are widely used across the globe - everything is found on social media and even governments use the platform to inform information or message to the public. So, it is important to spread or use the platform in a positive way, the minister added.

"Where we are, the history of the state should be spread through social media so that Manipur should be known by others in a positive way," Minister Ranjan said.
