Former rebel leader RK Sanayaima (Meghen) on Sunday stressed the crucial need for making Manipur self-sustained and stable economy during an award presentation ceremony organised by the Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School in Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Meghen highlighted the prolonged unrest in the state, causing hardships for over seven months.
He expressed concerns that if Manipur faced shortages in food production and other essential items, the people would endure even more significant challenges.
Meghen urged collective efforts towards enhancing production in the state to ensure the state’s food security.
He emphasised the importance of the community coming together to address the pressing issue.
In addition to discussing the literary landscape of Manipur, Meghen acknowledged the growth of various literature-based organisations as a positive sign for the development of Manipur’s literature.
He proposed the introduction of a unified award by bringing together all literature-based organisations in Manipur to foster the progress of literature in the region.
The award “Wakma Mingthol” and “Khoreirolgee Leichal Mana” were conferred to writers N Kirankumar and Keisham Bidyapati respectively.
The programme also witnessed recitation of poem by various writers and students.
The programme was also attended by president of Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup Waikhom Amuchou Meitei and retired Additional Chief Engineer Khagokpam Khamba, DMU Professor Sharatchandra Longjomba, chairman of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Th Landhoni, Professor Ch Ibohal Tongan among others.
