RIMS observes Forensic Medicine Day

A debate competition on the topic ‘Medical Consumerism and Commercialization of Healthcare’ as part of the event, a release from RIMS stated.

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, on Sunday observed the Forensic Medicine Day at its Banting Hall in the presence of RIMS Director Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma; Dean (Academic), RIMS, Professor Brogen Singh Akoijam and Sub-Dean (Academic) RIMS, Professor Th Meera Devi.

A debate competition on the topic ‘Medical Consumerism and Commercialization of Healthcare’ as part of the event, a release from RIMS stated. Dr Akoijam Ibohal and Dr Koijam Sashikumar Singh were the judges of the debate competition, it stated.

Meanwhile, a Dental Health Camp also conducted at Khomdonbi High School in Kakching Khunou marking the 35th Anniversary of Indian Dental Association (IDA) Manipur State Branch Kakching Khunou, Manipur, it mentioned.

The Development Committee of Kakching Khunou organised the event in association with Dental College RIMS with an aim to provide crucial dental services to the community, particularly in the relief camp setting, it said.

Wide range of services to address dental health issues including oral cancer screenings and free treatments were provided to 200 patients and free medicines were also distributed to them, it mentioned.

Toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to children, encouraging good oral hygiene habits from an early age, it stated.

Speaking on the sidelines, Honorary Secretary of IDA Manipur State Branch, Dr Deepa Ningombam Singh asserted that the Dental Health Camp aimed to not only provide vital services to the community but also symbolizes the dedication and commitment of IDA Manipur State Branch over the past 35 years, it added.

On the other hand, RIMS also organized a Swachhta Health camp at Khangabok Relief Camp as a part of Swachhta Action Plan 2024-25 wherein doctors from various departments including Obst & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medicine and ENT of RIMS, Imphal provided treatments and medicines to the inmates of relief camp, it said.
