The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, Dental College has bagged the 1st Consolation Prize in the month-long ‘World Oral Health Day Celebration’ contest organised by the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from March 20 to April 20.
The contest was held exclusively for all the departments of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry of all Indian Colleges and Paediatric Dental clinics, stated a release on Saturday.
It aimed to raise public awareness about oral-dental health in children and teenagers, it stated
Associate Professor and Head, Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, Dr Wairokpam Bhoomika Devi has been invited to receive the prestigious award which will be handed during the inauguration of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry national conference to be held at Bengaluru on September, it stated.
The release further highlighted the unwavering collective efforts of the doctors and staff of the college in paving the way for the achievement. Various activities including month-long contests creating oral health awareness, providing preventive and therapeutic treatment in various schools, children homes and relief camps in many districts of Manipur were organised by the college, it mentioned.
It added that parents and teachers were trained and given awareness on the importance of oral health and its association with overall general and systematic health. It further said that radio talks, newspaper articles, slogan competition, skit play, pamphlets distribution and posters were displayed in various parts of the city and competitions were organised for school children and teachers as part of the activities.
