RIMS Contractual Welfare Association demanded their absorption to the various regular posts which are lying vacant at RIMS, within the month of March.
Speaking to the media at RIMS in Imphal West, representative of the association, Gobin Leishangthem, informed that RIMS has a total of 404 contractual staff, which includes 280 individuals of grade 4 post.
He said, due to the low wage and job insecurity, the contractual staff are facing a lot of inconvenience in running their families. Besides, there are individuals who have been working as contractual staff for almost 25 years, he added.
Informing that various forms of agitations including hunger strike were taken up in the past in demand for their absorption, the government has unfortunately turned a deaf ear to their demand, he added.
Considering the sufferings faced by the contractual staff and their family members, he appealed to the concerned authorities to consider granting their demand.
