In view of the recent ambush on a Assam Rifles convoy by a combined force of PLA and MNPF on November 13, restriction on movement is likely to be increased at Singngat sub-division in Churachandpur, Manipur.  

Frisking of vehicles plying in the area will be conducted, travelling in large numbers will be restricted and customary hunters are advised not to wear camouflage outfits, sources in the Assam Rifles said. 

Unauthorised vehicles should not move at the Indo-Myanmar border near Behiang T village while people should not venture out much and never go to an AR outpost, the sources said.  

Meanwhile, the sources said that Union Minister Arjun Munda on Monday held a meeting at Hotel Classic, Imphal with the MLA of Singngat assembly constituency Ginsuanhau Zou and discussed the law and order situation and the means for taking further steps.

It may be recalled that the recent ambush on an AR convoy was the first ever attack on a paramilitary force conducted in the district. The death of the colonel and his family along with their six-year-old child during the ambush shocked the people of Churachandpur. Sources from the Assam Rifles told the Imphal Free Press that they will strike back at a time and place of their choosing.
