The CCIAN Forum Peace Committee on Thursday provided necessary relief materials to village volunteers of Singda Kadangband part (l) in Imphal West district in continuance of its humanitarian act of lending support and assistance to the affected victims of the prevailing conflict.
Taking part in the visit, CCIAN Forum Peace Committee convenor Angomcha Chingkhei lauded the village volunteers of Kadangband for their unwavering courage and bravery in defending their village and people against Kuki militants’ attack.
He condemned the attack against the Meitei/Meeteis by Kukis who were once neighbours and said that the same is an act of treachery. He further said that the committee carried out the activity to encourage the brave village volunteers of Kadangband.
During the committee’s visit, one meira paibi from Kadangband part (l), Thoudam ongbi Yamuna highlighted the plight and hardships facing the villagers of Kadangband in wake of the conflict that broke out on May 3. She appealed to the government to consider the sufferings of the people especially those in the peripheral areas and end the conflict at the earliest.
She mentioned that the children of the village are being deprived of their education owing to the unrest. Above this, the villagers are unable to carry out farming activities owing to relentless attacks by armed kuki militants, she added.
Yamuna condemned the government for allegedly remaining a silent spectator to the ongoing mayhem and questioned if they are below the Assam Rifles, who are allegedly siding with the kukis. She urged the government to do the needful and restore normalcy in the state.
Members of CCIAN Forum Peace Committee also took part in the visit to Kadangband village.
