The Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (SANULAL) on Tuesday demanded the authorities concerned to release the five reported village volunteers swiftly and unconditionally.

Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul, SANULAL advisor Yumnam Ibethoi strongly condemned the authorities for their recent targeted arrest of village volunteers.

“The volunteers are putting themselves in line fire to protect the state’s territorial integrity and such a targeted attack on them is highly condemnable,” she said.

She pointed out that it was the womenfolk and brave warriors of Manipur that had been safeguarding the sanctity of Manipur.

Since time immemorial, brave men and women of Manipur have sacrificed themselves to protect their motherland, she added.

As such, she advised the Chin Kuki narco terrorist groups to put down their weapons and drop their far-fetched dream of separate administration.

“As long as true Manipuris continue to resist attempts to disintegrate Manipur, the Chin Kuki will never achieve their dream,” she said.

She also called upon the state government to up their security tactics and deploy firm requisite measures to protect Manipur.

Meanwhile, SANULAL general secretary Akoijam Shanti reiterated the demand to release the five village volunteers.

“The government has failed to protect Manipur and left the people to fend for themselves; to arrest people who were extending aid in protecting the state’s integrity is an untimely display of authority,” she said.

She further added that the silence of the remaining 50 MLAs spoke volumes on their perception of the people and the state.

She lambasted the central government for allowing the attacks to continue and stated their vested agendas grew clearer as the conflict dragged on. She further demanded both authorities to resolve the crisis swiftly.
