‘Red Dawn’ book fair cum literary festival

Organised by the Readers Collective, the 10-day book fair cum literary festival will kick-off at DM College of Commerce ground from September 30.

‘Red Dawn’, a 10-day book fair cum literary festival in connection with the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot will kick-off at DM College of Commerce ground from September 30.

The event is being organised by the Readers Collective and will continue till October 9.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday at Manipur Press Club, coordinator of the collective, Soram Inaoba said that a diverse genre of books especially those concerning social and political dimension will be made available at discounted prices during the fair.

“The fair also aims to raise awareness about the ideals of Hijam Irabot in a bid to inculcate his thought process towards an egalitarian society,” he stated.

Inaoba further announced that various programmes like talks from eminent personalities, writers, journalists and activists, poetry recitation, art exhibition and discourse on life of Hijam Irabot and different issues of the state among others will be held as part of the festival.

He also appealed to the people to attend the event and take the opportunity to have a better understanding of various issues, confronting the state and go through the array of books.

It may be mentioned here that the Readers Collective is a non-profit organisation formed by youths who follow the ideologies of Hijam Irabot with an aim to encourage discourse of various issues in the state through writing, reading, discussions and publications.

The group is currently being operated from the Readers Book Store inside Manipur University campus.
