A team of Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur on Tuesday visited the JNV Tuinom and held a meeting with the principal and staff of the institution following a report of ragging and other issues plaguing JNV.
KSO general secretary stated in a release that the student body learnt of the incident in a local daily, dated September 27, 2022. A team of KSO Churachandpur rushed to JNV and met the school principal and staff members regarding the incident and interacted with Class XII and VI, VII and VIII students about the reported incident of ragging that occurred on the night of September 25, 2022.
On further inquiry, it was learnt that the principal was out of station on the night when the incident occurred and the House masters and House mistress were at their respective quarters and failed to monitor the students, the KSO stated.
Assembling of students by their seniors and ragging of their juniors on the pretext of reprimanding them physically and verbally has been long practiced, the KSO stated.
The team took stock of the situation while also rendering counselling and encouraged the students to be the harbinger of change in putting an end to such anti-social practice of ragging, it stated.
However, in view of the ongoing semester examination, the matter has been kept aside not to disturb the exam atmosphere.
The matter will be closely monitored until an amicable solution is reached, the KSO said.
Those involved in the incident have been identified and appropriate action is being initiated by the School Management against the perpetrators to prevent such incidents in the future, the KSO said. It requested all parents of the students to stay calm as the matter has been sorted out
