The Peace Accord MNF Returnees' Association (PAMRA), a former militant group of Mizoram, has urged the Meitei people staying in Mizoram to flee from the state as it is not safe for them.
In a release on Friday, C Lalthenlova, general secretary of PAMRA General Headquarters, said that the treatment of the Zo-ethnic group by the Meiteis in Manipur was excessive, hurtful and intolerable for the Mizo people.
PAMRA also stated that the actions of the Meiteis have now reached a global audience.
In the light of such, the Meitei people residing in Mizoram should flee the state as soon as possible because it is no longer safe to be here, PAMRA said. If they fail to do so, it will be their fault if something unpleasant occurs to them, they added.
The statement allegedly comes following the viral video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, a move that has sent shockwaves across the globe.
PAMRA is formed by former militants who fought for freedom during the Mizo National Front's fight for independence and gave up their weapons after the Peace Accord was signed in 1986.
