Protest against gun firing in residential area

Locals of Majorkhul on Friday staged a sit-in-protest decrying the firing of guns at JK TVS showroom located at Majorkhul, Imphal on Thursday.

Locals of Majorkhul on Friday staged a one day sit-in-protest at Majorkhul, Imphal near the Manipur Press Club decrying the firing of guns at JK TVS showroom located at Majorkhul, Imphal on Thursday.

It is reported that the incident took place at around 5.10 pm on Tuesday and as per CCTV footage it was seen that two unknown miscreants came in a blue colour Jupiter (two-wheeler scooter) and shot two rounds at the showroom.

It is reported that an outfit made monetary demand from the showroom earlier.

During the incident, some parts of the glass pane of the showroom were damaged however, no casualty had been reported. In connection with the incident, a case was registered at City Police station on the same day.

Meanwhile, locals of Majorkhul on Friday staged a sit-in-protest decrying the incident at Majorkhul, Imphal. 

Speaking on the sideline of the protest, president of Kabui Mother’s Association, Atonpi Kamei told media that the locals strongly condemned the incident of firing in residential areas. She said with the coming of Gaan Ngai festival, gathering has started for the preparation of the festival.

She appealed not to repeat such acts in future as any sort of misunderstanding could be solved on a negotiating table. 

Protesters demonstrated the protest with placard “Stop Violence and allow Peace and harmony to flourist”; “We Condemned shooting in Residential Area”; and “We Condemned firing of Pistol in Crowded area”, and others.
