The non-functioning of Airtel tower at New Tusom village located along the Indo-Myanmar border for the last many weeks with no concerned authority taking any action in spite of the villages plead for prompt action has irked Raphei Katamnao Long who also decried poor internet speed in Ukhrul district.
Speaking to the Imphal Free Press on Monday evening, Somipam Vashum, president, Raphei Katamnao Long said that the Airtel tower at New Tusom village provides network connectivity to the border villages including Kuingai, Challou, Vahong and Tusom, among other villages. However, much to the dismay of the border villages, its generator and transformer have remained non-functional for the last two months.
This breakdown of Airtel tower has brought immense hardships to the populace. Even after making repeated appeals, no concerned authority has stepped in to address the genuine issue, he pointed out.
The internet speed in the district is so weak that it has hugely impacted the populace, especially the internet dependent services, he lamented.
He then made a clarion appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the grim situation facing the border villages and the district at the earliest.
