The Privilege and Ethics Committee of Manipur Legislative Assembly has given assurance to Imagi Meira for conducting a meeting of the committee by February 14 in connection with demands of taking action against 10 MLAs.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club on Thursday, convenor Thokchom Sujata Devi of Imagi Meira said that the women team of Imagi Meira tried to meet the Speaker of Manipur Assembly on February 6 but could not. However, on February 7, the team was able to meet the speaker and put up their demands, she said.
“We demanded the Speaker to conduct a meeting of the privilege committee to discuss about ten Kuki MLAs who are against the Assembly, as well as to take action against them”, she said.
The Speaker allowed their demand of conducting a meeting by February 14, she informed.
Besides the assurance, the women team also met the members of the privilege committee including chairman of the committee who assured of conducting the meeting, she added.
She also informed that the team met BJP Manipur president Sharda on Thursday for taking action against ten Kuki MLAs for demanding separate administration as per BJP party rules.
In that, A Sharda informed them that the party had sent a letter to the central leader.
She appealed to all members of the privilege committee to conduct the meeting for sure.
