Women vendors of the three Khwairamband markets, including street vendors, on Thursday held a sit-in-protest cum meeting in the Khwairamband Keithel complex on Thursday and resolved to prepare for a third Nupi Lal (Women’s War) in the aftermath of prolonged conflict in Manipur.

The joint meeting also decided to form a Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace of Khwairamband Keithel, Imphal which included not only licensed vendors and street vendors but also shop owners of the adjoining area. Thursday's gathering included women vendors from many communities of the state.

The women vendors had shut down the three markets, shops and street vendors in the surrounding area for the last three days in protest against the centre and state government’s inaction to end the ongoing conflict in the state.

Showing strong reservation against any move to establish a separate administration in the state, the meeting decided to highlight their concerns and resolve to the United Nations Organization and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It was also decided to launch various forms of agitations until violence stops, to mount pressure on MPs and MLAs to go to Delhi and convince central authorities for the protection of the integrity of Manipur, withdraw Assam Rifles from Manipur and implement National Registrar of Citizens (NRC).

In the memorandum to be submitted to the United Nations Organization and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they demanded not to accept the demand of a separate administration in Manipur and to uproot Narco-terrorists from Manipur.

The meeting also resolved against the prolonged ban of internet connectivity and closure of the National Highway at Kangpokpi district.

They also urged the authorities to immediately arrange for settlement of internally displaced people who are presently taking shelter at various relief camps in the state.

The Khwairamband women also resolved to unite all the women communities of the state, irrespective of caste and creed, to jointly fight against any attempt to pull down Manipur's society.

“The present crisis started from Churachandpur district and so, a combing operation had to be started from Churachandpur along with the state police commando,” said women vendors.

Further stating that the crisis in the state is caused by Kuki militants under SoO, the women vendors urged the government of India and Manipur to immediately abrogate SoO with Kuki militants.
