The Peace and Relief Committee Singjamei Assembly Constituency (PRECOM) on Saturday stormed the house of MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand and submitted a five-point memorandum in connection with the ongoing communal clash to be handed over to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The five-point memorandum is to: revoke the suspension of operation (SoO) with Kuki militants for violating ground rules; save the territorial integrity of Manipur; Implement the NRC in Manipur; condemn the statement of Mizoram Chief Minister Zoram Thanga; and restore communal peace, harmony, and normalcy in Manipur.
MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand told the protesters that due to the ongoing communal clash, many people across the state have been suffering. Controlling and bringing the situation back to normal will take time. But the government will not tolerate those unlawful organisations that are involved in the clash, he added.
Thousands of stranded people have been shifted with the help of central paramilitary forces and state forces to safe places, he added.
The state government is vigilant of the present situation in Manipur, he said, adding that he will consult with the chief minister of Manipur to discuss what steps could be taken against those unlawful organisations that are involved in the communal clash in order to bring peace and harmony to Manipur.
