Commissioner to Government of Manipur, civil servant Pradeep Kumar Jha has been assigned as chairman of the committee constituted for conducting verification drive for identification of illegal Myanmar immigrants in Chandel and Tengnoupal district.
Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey issued an order on Wednesday for assigning Pradeep Kumar Jha the said duty, during the period of leave or absence during station leaving days of Commissioner, Government of Manipur Shailesh Kumar Chourasia.
In a similar manner, IPS, DIG (Intelligence) Ningshen Worngam shall discharge the duties of IPS, IG (Intelligence) Kabib K for the assignments related to the committee during the period of leave or absence during station leaving days or his engagement in some unavoidable circumstances whereby he is unable to discharge such assignment, it stated.
The committee shall start visiting the districts starting from August 1 for monitoring the activities of capturing biometrics of the illegal migrants who have entered the state including the recently reported 718 fresh cases who had entered crossing Indo Myanmar Border illegally, it further stated.
In the Terms of Reference of the Committee, the timeline earlier set for completion of the exercise by March 31, 2023 shall be extended to September 30, 2023, it mentioned.
Necessary coordination with the District Authorities shall be done by the chairman for the visits, it mentioned.
