Manipur police have seized several Kenbo bikes illegally brought from Myanmar to be used mainly for transportation of poppy seeds and drugs in the narrow and stiff terrains, sources said.
So far, as many as 26 Kenbo bikes in Churachandpur district, four in Saikul, Kangpokpi district and more in Moreh were seized, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said in a Facebook post.
"The 26 Kenbo Bikes were handed over by the Churachandpur police and kept at Langthabal lep Chingning godown," he added.
On Saturday the chief minister made a strong appeal to all those involved in poppy plantation and in illegal drug business to shun all such activities considering the destructive effects of these acts on the society.
Biren warned the people in the state of stronger actions against anyone found involved in these illegal actions. The chief minister made the appeal during a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat late Saturday evening.
