Manipur Polls 2022: Amid the simmering tension and tight security arrangements, voters in great numbers came out to exercise their franchise in 1,247 polling stations of 22 constituencies across six districts in the state.

As dark clouds of uncertainty looms large across the state, braving threats and fear of poll violence, voters in great numbers came out to exercise their franchise in the phase-2 of the Manipur Assembly Elections 2022 conducted across 1,247 polling stations of 22 constituencies in six districts under tight security arrangements on Saturday- March 5. Here's second phase poll day at a glance.

THOUBAL:

A massive crowd of voters throng the polling station - 33/20 Heirok Khunou UP School, Thoubal district, to cast their votes, as polling began early Saturday. In the frenzy to vote their respective candidates to power, some came wearing face masks, while others came without masks and social distancing was ignored by all.

CHANDEL

The scene in Chandel was more organised and peaceful where Covid Appropriate Behavior was strictly adhered too amid tight security. The voters were seen queing up to cast their votes, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing by standing in marked circles at the polling stations.

Beru Khudam 41/35 polling station, Chandel. Chandel, with 95,293 electors, has set up 154 polling stations across its two constituencies.

Voters crowd the polling station in Ukhrul as second phase of the Manipur Assembly Elections 2022 began on March 5, 2022. Ukrhul with 1,30,545 voters has 219 polling stations spread across three Assembly constituencies.

As polling for the second phase elections 2022 began, voters wait for their turn to cast their ballot at polling station 13 Chadong under Phungyar Assembly constituency.

SENAPATI

In Mao constituency too, a high number of voters could be seen crowding the polling station to cast their votes. Authorities concerned remained mute spectators as all who present at the polling station failed to adhere to Covid SOP. Senapati, with 1,60,061 eligible electors, has 228 polling stations.

TENGNOUPAL

Polling underway at Polling Station No 42/64 at Moreh town parking. Tengnoupal district with 43,792 voters has 74 polling stations.

A few number of voters were seen queing up at polling station No 42/65 at Mt Moreh Public School, Moreh. Tengnoupal constituency have a total no of 43,792 voters. Six candidate are contesting in the 42 TPL A/C. The BJP candidate Shri Letpao Haokip cast his vote at Moreh polling station no 42/70.

Polling at different Moreh block polling stations was conducted peacefully.

TAMENGLONG

Manipur elections 2022 second phasePolling underway at 53/13 polling station, Tamenglong Assembly constituency. Tamenglong district with 1,07,515 voters has 211 polling stations spread across three contituencies.

CHURACHANDPUR (Repoll)

Repolling at Teikot polling station 60/36 in Singhat ST AC witnessed large turnout of voters. Repolling was conducted in nine polling stations in Churachandpur district. While some of the polling stations were out of network coverage, peaceful polling was reported.  

IMPHAL EAST (Repoll)

Repoll at 1-Khundrakpam constituency, polling station No 1/20 (Sarouthel) continued smoothly. Till 11am, 67 per cent vote was cast on Saturday.
