A poetry book titled, ‘Shiroi Lily’ which is a collection of 61 different Manipur poems was launched at auditorium, Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives, Imphal on Saturday.
The poems written by Umananda Kshetrimayum mostly portray nature’s beauty which is reflected in human beings.
Umananda, son of late Ksh Tombi and Khangembam Bino Devi was born on February 10, 1980 at Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak, Imphal East. He completed his Master’s degree in Sociology from Panjab University and presently serves as chief executive officer at Thoubal Zilla Parisad.
Keeping an interest in writing, he has been writing several songs and poems as his hobby.
On the occasion, Umananda expressed that due to his love for writing, he started writing poems during his high school days. It was his dream to publish his poems under the title ‘Shiroi Lily’, he said.
The idea of using the title is to bring an intimacy between humans and the beauty of nature. If people realise the need for nature in life, then there always will be peace in society, he added.
He further said that he is planning to publish more similar books in the future as contributions to society.
Retired IAS officer K Radhakumar Singh; former dean of humanities, Manipur University, professor Nahakpam Aruna Devi and director, small savings, Manipur, Rojendrakar Nongthomba also attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
