Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Keisham Meghachandra Singh has sent an open letter invitation to RDPR Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday to be a part of the joint inspection of construction work carried out under PMGSY.

The letter was submitted by a team of MPCC led by its general secretary Soibam Jeeten Singh to the office chamber of Yumnam Khemchand Singh. The minister was not available during the visit but the letter was handed over to his subordinate staff, party sources said.

Addressing the media after submitting the letter, Jeeten said that the MPCC has been continuously inspecting various construction work sites carried out under PMGSY and many works were found incomplete though crores of money have been released.

Amongst them are road construction at Galkapkot to Gamhui Part-II and Galkapkot to Gamhui Part-III under the Thanlon Block, Churachandpur district, he said.

In this regard, the MPCC had requested concerned minister, officers for a joint inspection on December 10 to witness what they had come across, he said, citing the reason for submission of the open letter invitation.

He said that MPCC has shared information about the PMGSY fund misappropriation through the media and social media and since then, many arguments have cropped up against them.

The Congress party had conducted the inspection in the interest of the public but not to gain any political mileage. The committee felt that observing the ground reality of the said site by joint inspection would settle such arguments or war of words, the party general secretary said.
