PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat 100th episode aired across Manipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chats with Manipur's Bijayashanti Tongbram who started the venture of making clothes with fibres extracted from lotus stems.

The 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat was aired across several districts in Manipur on Sunday, while Union Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav, Chief Minister N Biren, ministers, MLAs listened to the programme which was also broadcasted at Sendra in Bishnupur by the Loktak Development Authority.

The event witnessed the participation of a huge number of local villagers and fishermen living in and around the Loktak Lake.

During the programme, PM Modi had a live interaction over the phone with entrepreneur Bijayashanti Tongbram from Manipur who started the venture of making clothes with fibres extracted from lotus stalks.

During the telephonic conversation which was aired by more than 500 broadcast centres of All India Radio, the PM lauded Bijayasanti who is currently working with as many as 30 coordinating staff and is planning to increase the staff to 100 this year.

She also informed that she has been getting a good marketing opportunity since the PM highlighted her unique eco-friendly idea during a past episode of Maan Ki Baat.

“I am planning to send my products to the US this year. I want my product to reach all over the globe,” she added.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Bijayashanti for her eco-friendly Innovative ideas which has made the ‘vocal for local’  into ‘local for global’ and wished her best of luck.

IFP Kangpokpi correspondent added that state Industry Minister Nemcha Kipgen along with Manipuri actress Soma Laishram on Sunday joined the people of Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency in tuning to the event at Kangpokpi district headquarters.

The programme was tuned in at all the 42 polling booths of Kangpokpi assembly constituency under the aegis of BJP Kangpokpi Mandal as instructed and supervised by local MLA Nemcha Kipgen.

The main event of the screening of 'Mann Ki Baat' was held at the residential home of Nemcha Kipgen at the district headquarters where hundreds from across various communities participated.

Soma Laishram led the participants in shouting slogans, ‘Mann Ki Baat, Mann Ki Baat’, ‘Modi ji Zindabad’, etc. during the screening of Mann Ki Baat.

Nemcha said that the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme is a reflection of the Maan Ki Baat of crores of Indians,  while adding that it is an expression of their feelings.

“I am delighted to listen to the insightful thoughts of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mann Ki Baat 100th episode with my people under my assembly constituency at my residence,” she added.

Soma said, “Today is special and memorable for me as on my maiden visit to this colorful town. I can also listen to the historic centennial episode of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat with the diverse communities of the town.”

Nemcha Kipgen and Soma Laishram also visited the screening of Mann Ki Baat at the Conference Hall, ADC Sadar Hills organized by ST Morcha BJP Kangpokpi under the aegis of ST Morcha BJP Manipur Pradesh.

At the programme organised by BJP Heirok mandal at Heirok Part II Thokchom Leikai in Thoubal district Heirok assembly constituency MLA Thokchom Radheshyam pointed out that Mann ki Baat is an important medium through which leaders can make an effective communication with the masses, our Thoubal Correspondent reported.  

The 100th episode was aired at all booths in the Heirok assembly constituency.

Mann Ki Baat provides an opportunity for the leaders to communicate with the people, he said adding, miscommunication usually leads to misunderstandings among all.  

Mann Ki Baat is a programme envied by leaders across the globe, he said. The programme was broadcast in 23 languages including English, he mentioned.

When it began, it lasted for only 10 minutes and was broadcasted in Hindi. Now, the duration has been extended to 30 minutes, he mentioned. The fourth episode that was aired on January 27, 2015 was participated by former American President Barack Obama, he added. 

He mentioned that as many as 700 private individuals, including self-help groups and representatives of 300 NGOs totaling 1,000 people interacted with the PM so far. Among them, 37 people and 10 NGOs belong to foreign countries, he added. 

He further suggested emulating the model presented by the PM in communicating with the people of the assembly constituency and further conveyed the message of the PM.  

IFP Tamenglong correspondent added that the All India Radio station Tamenglong organised a function in their office by inviting local representatives to listen to the live broadcast of the event. 

Utopia Tamenglong Ward No 1 chairman Maneipou expressed his sincere gratitude to the AIR FM station Tamenglong for broadcasting the programme. He urged them to continue providing good services to the people of Tamenglong.

Engineers-on-duty Heigrujam Surjit and Sanabam Ibohal thanked the invitees for listening to the special occasion. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Surjit expressed that running Air FM station Tamenglong is difficult due to frequent power failures. 

He said that shortage of manpower is another problem being faced in providing 24 services to the people. He urged the local and concerned authorities to provide reliable power supply to enable good services to the people.
