Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday attributed Manipur's development to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's encouragement and stated that the state would have been more developed, progressing at the same level as other states of India had the BJP come to power earlier in the state.

Addressing the observance of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ in connection with the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Thambal Sanglen in Imphal West, the chief minister revealed that the PM told him to ‘save Manipur’ during his first tenure.

Biren also revealed that when he came to power for the second term, PM Modi told him to ‘do something to eradicate corruption as your government has got absolute majority’ and not to allow individual politics.

"Such a statement from the Prime Minister is a great encouragement and it is what has led Manipur to where we are today,” the CM said.

Biren said that getting BJP absolute majority in the Manipur State Assembly 2022 is the result of the prevailing peace, unity and development brought by the BJP-led government in its previous term under the supervision of Modi.

Recalling the uses of Manipur traditional Lengyan Phee by Modi in various big functions, naming a ship under Rani Gaidinliu and renaming of Mt Harriet to Mt Manipur/Manipur Pravat, Biren said that the people of Manipur need to revert the honour given by Modi to the people of Manipur.

Biren informed that with the mission to leave no one homeless, Modi has instructed all the MLAs to construct 20 houses every year under the MLA's Local Area Development Fund.

The function was also attended by Union MoS RK Ranjan; MP Leishemba Sanajaoba; BJP Manipur president A Sarda Devi; ministers, MLAs and other executives of BJP Manipur.
